The determinants of trade credit: a study of portuguese industrial companies
Despite the relevance of trade credit as a source of business financing, the topic is far from being considered exhausted, especially because there is no general and integrated theory explaining the causes and consequences of trade credit. Our research aims to contribute towards the literature that studies the determinants for granting and receiving trade credit. In this sequence, the present study seeks to empirically test some theories about the reasons why companies grant and receive commercial credit. For this purpose we apply a fixed effect model to a panel of 11 040 Portuguese industrial companies, of which 360 are large companies and the majority 10 680 are Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) for the period between 2003 and 2009. We conclude that large companies (with greater access to credit market) serve as financial intermediaries to their clients with less access to finance. In addition, it was observed that the supplier companies use trade credit as a legal means of price discrimination. Finally, financially constrained enterprises, especially in times of financial crisis, use commercial credit as an alternative source of funding, endorsing the hypothesis of substitution between trade credit and bank credit
The BrandYou method : a guide to leverage personal brands
In a competitive society, individuals try to stand out to achieve career success. A topics
that gained notority in this context is personal branding, which focuses on developing the
personal brand of individuals who aim to establish differentiator points to build competitive
advantage.
However, there are few methodologies that offer practical processes and efficient personal
branding frameworks. In this sense, this dissertation aims to provide and validate a new
method, which will be entitled as the BrandYou method. This method was built based on the
summary of the literature reivew, and it will be further presented in the literature framework.
It is a process containing the main aspects and chronological sequence for the development of
personal brands. The method was evaluated through an intervention carried out with selected
participants for 2 months and the results were analyzed before and after the intervention.
Personal brands of individuals were examined in the study by observing the impact that
the method had on the internal and external perception of specific attributes, such as authority,
recognition, and authenticity. The selection of attributes was based on the findings from the
literature review.
In conclusion, the results showed that the BrandYou method positively and significantly
impacts the perception of some attributes, internally and externally, in the short and medium term. Therefore, this dissertation has theoretical and managerial contributions since it provides
new data and discoverings that help in filling the gaps in the literature while it offers an
additional tool for personal brands.
externamente, no curto e no médio prazo.
Infanta Theresa was born around the year 1079. She married the burgundian

A new polyploid species of Mimosa (leguminosae, mimosoideae) from the highlands of Southern Brazil
Mimosa tucumensis (Leguminosae), a new species from M. sect. Mimosa ser. Mimosa subser. Mimosa is described and illustrated. This taxon is found in southern Brazil (Paran State), in "campos de altitude," an environment different from the typical habitat of other entities in this subseries. Mimosa tucumensis is morphologically close to M. debilis, M. velloziana, and M. sensibilis, but differs from these principally by the presence of humifuse stems with adventitious roots, considerably longer petioles and peduncles, and foliar venation. In addition, cytological characterization of this new taxon is provided and discussed in relation to the nearest species. This taxon appears to be narrowly restricted to grasslands on a handful of closely adjacent peaks in the Paran State adding to the notable endemism of this area. On the basis of morphological, cytological, and geographical data, some evolutionary considerations are inferred.Fil: Morales, Matias. Universidad de Morón; Argentina. Quantification of a new water diversity index for large areas using GIS. Examples in Paraná State, Xingu river basin (Brazil) and Portugal
The Portuguese authors express their gratitude for the financial support given by the FCT (Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia) to the Institute of Earth Sciences (Pole of the University of Minho), which partially supports this research. No abstract.
Intake and Digestibility of Silages
The intake of DM (DMI) is determinant for ingress of nutrients to cater to the requirements for animal maintenance and production, principally the intake of protein and energy. The end‐products of fermentation can affect the intake of silages and influence animal performance, since some organic acids negatively influence the intake of silage and digestibility of nutrients. For example, acetic and butyric acid have large effects on the intake of silage. Ammonia also can negatively affect the intake of silages. The digestibility can be influenced by end‐products of fermentation and change the characteristics of ensiled plants. The objective of this chapter is to explain how silage end‐products of fermentation and changes in the structure of forage resulting from the ensiling process can affect the intake and digestibility of silages. Some control mechanisms of silage fermentation can be used to improve the intake and digestibility of silage. Biological or chemical additives may contribute to the increased intake of silage and improve digestibility. Appropriate management techniques can influence the result
